Super Snack Mom To The Rescue

Store Bought or Creative Thought?

It’s that time of year again. You know, the time of year where the dates creep fast where you signed your name on the sign up sheet at the beginning of the year. If you are like me the school year gets going and before you know it BOOM the reminder comes home (usually the day before, yikes). The fantasy is to be “that mom”, you know the one who walks in with an incredibly designed snack, completely homemade and so on. BUT reality sets in and it could play out either way.

However this year I pushed through to find my A game. I gave sweet #4 a choice. She could pick something out at the store (please pick this one, please for the love of all things great pick this choice I give you). OR…… we could make something creative and homemade (well duh, what do you think she picked?). Yep choice number 2 won with flying colors. Yay! (sarcasm intended but with a smile)

So we took to the handy dandy internet for our inspiration. We came across a lot as you already can guess. We narrowed it down to cupcakes. From the cupcake decision is where the real fun soon began. I headed off to the store for our creation supplies. Sweet #4 was very excited to do something homemade for her classmates. I have to be honest I was feeling open to the challenge and happy she was happy.

Now before you think I am living the fantasy I have to admit I was only half way there. I have to admit I bought boxed cake mix for our cupcakes. Yep the Martha Stewart in me was just not in town on this particular day. So shhhh they can still be in debate on the box or from scratch debate, ok?

Ingredients we used for our Snowman Cupcakes:

1 box cake mix (we chose Funfetti but you can throw caution in the wind with your flavor of choice)

Frosting (we chose vanilla)

Extras: Marshmallows, mini chocolate ships, sprinkles, candy eyes, candy corn
