Number Recognition Activities

Number recognition is an important building block to success in math. As preschool and kindergarten children start to recognize their numbers, it is only natural for them to start counting objects.

As a mom I always loved those first moments where the kids would first point out something they just learned. Usually for me it was the aisle in the parking lot or as we strolled down the grocery aisles while shopping. Oh how I would smile with joy in the moment as I was witnessing their little world expanding along with their new found knowledge. Thank god for cell phones as I am always known to whip it out to keep daddy in the moment too.

Here are some free online activities to further reinforce in fun ways.

Counting Me To Sheep – Choose Telly tab to find the game. Count sheep to put Telly to sleep.

Big Bird’s Numbers – Press a number key and Big Bird identifies number and has corresponding objects.

Bunny Counting – Click on the number on the right that equals how many bunnies shown.

How Many? – Count the objects and select the correct number to match.

Number B-I-N-G-O – Select a game of numbers (0-24). Listen for the number and locate it on the bingo card.

Number Series – Select a series of numbers to play with to start the game. Drag and drop the numbers to complete the number sequence.

Post Letters – Listen and drag the letter in the mailbox that is named.
