Body Systems Unit Experiment

We ended our unit study of the body systems with a fun experiment!

 

Can you stomach this?????

Here are all our ingredients to mimic the stomach digestion process.

Pouring in the lemon lime pop (ie.stomach acid) now.

Her hands are the stomach muscle walls churning the food.

Ewwwww! It’s a good thing for skin so we don’t have to see this daily. LOL

The bread is broken down but the gum remains in tact. Our moms lied. Gum can’t be digested or broken down. It flies right on through our systems. LOL

We had so much fun with this unit study on the human body systems. There are so many interesting facts to learn. Here are some funky facts we learned and would love to share with you! Do you know something we didn’t mention? Share a fact with us in the comments!

 

  • Did you know the human nose can remember up to 50000 different types of scents?
  • Research suggests that children tend to grow faster in spring season as compared to any other time of the year!
  • Did you know that on average,men have larger noses than women?
  • Did you know that the enamel on the top surface of our tooth is the hardest part of the entire body?
  • Food is either cooled or warmed to a suitable temperature in the mouth!
  • The benefits of hugging:
    – More upbeat moods

    – Reduce heart rates
    – Lower blood pressure
    – Increase nerve activity
    – Reduce levels of cortisol (stress hormone) if they are over 20 seconds long
    – Increase levels of oxytocin (bonding hormone)
    – Boosts the immune system
    – Builds self esteem
    – Alleviates tension and releases endorphins
    – It’s portable and it doesn’t cost a thing!
  • Did you know that your toe-prints are also unique , just like your finger prints! Even your tongue print is unique!
  • Did you know ,you have no sense of smell when you’re sleeping?
  • Did you know ,you can see your nose all the time but somehow your brain always ignores it!
  • We all blink after every few seconds, but do we know the purpose of blinking? Blinking helps to wash tears over our eyeballs to help keep them clean and moist.
  • An average person has over 1,460 dreams a year which is about 4 dreams every night!
  • On a clear night ,the human eye can see between 2000 to 3000 stars in the sky.
  • Do you know the similarity between human body and a banana? You will be amazed to know that 50% of human DNA is same as in banana!
