Animal Groups Fun Facts

If your house is like my house then you know the interesting conversations from to time to time with kids and their observations.

Your kid asks: “Hey mom, why is it 2 geese but not 2 meese?”

You, me and every mom: “Uh, well, hmmmmm…”

Yep that is just about how it goes here too. LOL So after that conversation in the van we thought it would be fun to see what other groups of animals are called. Here is the A-Z of what we found because that is how we roll here.

 

A for Apes – a group of apes is called a shrewdness.

B for Butterflies – a group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope.

C for Cobras – a group of cobras is called a quiver.

D for Donkeys – a group of donkeys is called a drove.

E for Elk – a group of Elk is called a gang.

F for Foxes – a group of foxes is called a skulk.

G for Giraffes – group of giraffes is called a tower.

H for Hedgehogs – a group of hedgehogs is called a prickle.

I for Iguanas – a group of iguanas is called a slaughter.

J for Jellyfish – a group of jellyfish is called a smack.

K for Kangaroos – a group of kangaroos is called a mob.

L for Lions – a group of lions is called a pride.

M for Monkeys – a group of monkeys is called a barrel. (Aha, that’s where the game idea came from. LOL)

N for Nightingales – a group of nightingales is called a watch.

O for Owls – a group of owls is called a parliament.

P for Penguins– a group of penguins are called a raft.

Q for Quails – a group of quail is called a covey.

R for Ravens – a group of ravens is called an unkindness.

S for Sharks – a group of sharks is called a shiver.

T for Toads – a group of toads is called a knot.

U for Unicorns – a group of unicorns is called a blessing.

V for Vultures – a group of vultures is called a wake.

W for Woodpeckers – a group of woodpeckers is called a descent.

X for X-Ray Fish – a group of x-ray fish are called a school.

Y for Yuma Myotis (a species of bat) – a group of yuma myotis is called a cloud.

Z for Zebra – a group of zebras is called a zeal.
